“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
I started in the Insurance business in 1985 (as a child). There were a few years off while my husband and I raised our two daughters and traveled around as a navy family. Even then, I kept my hand in volunteering with the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society helping my clients with their budgets and financial futures. I believe there’s always a need for a holistic approach to financial planning, and insurance holds an important part of any financial plan.
I started as a banker working in two different banks, where I cut my teeth on insurance, annuities, and mutual funds. Following that, I went to work for State Farm Insurance providing sales coaching to agents relating to retirement planning and wound up at the home office developing training in insurance, banking, and investments. No matter where I was in my career, the client and their well-being were always the priority in my work.
Outside of work, I can be found teaching bible studies, continuing my studies in Education for Ministries, spending time with my family, as well as playing and singing music. This represents my priorities of God first, family second, and work third, which I have found are often the same priorities my clients hold.
Not only will I help clients and advisors discern which insurance products meet their needs, but I will also take the time to ensure the products are understood and why they are the best choice.

If you had an extra hour to yourself in the morning, how would you spend it?
There’s always something that needs to be read. Sometimes that includes fiction! Mostly, taking the time to really understand what my text books are saying. I’ve also been known to take some time to send a handwritten letter or to simply go through my very long prayer list.
What’s the most likely place people could find you on a Saturday night?
Snuggled on the couch with my hubby watching British, Australian, or kiwi television, especially “who-done-its”
Which would you pick: Living on the beach or living near the mountains?
Beach for certain!!! Having grown up in Florida living near the beach was always special. Now I live on the west coast of Florida and it’s a bit of a drive – but always worth it.
Imagine being approached by a genie who offers you three wishes. What might those wishes be?
The first wish would be for infinitely more wishes! I’d ask for shelter and food for those who live rough, I’d ask for all children to be cured of horrible diseases, and I’d ask for even more time with the ones I love.
If you had the ability to travel back in time, what’s something you would tell your 18-year-old self?
Soak it all up and don’t rush so much!
